We’ve introduced some automation into the ingredient creation process for paying ReciPal subscribers. Now, when you upload a nutrition label photo or spec sheet, ReciPal can use AI to automatically populate the data fields.

So the next time you find an ingredient you want to add to the database, it's as simple as taking a picture or screenshot and letting AI do the work of filling in all the fields. See it in action!"

How it works

After going to the create a new ingredient section:

1. Attach a label photo or spec sheet of the ingredient
2. Click “Fill fields based on file”
3. Review results for accuracy

It can take up to 30 seconds to scan your attachment and pull in all the data fields. Beyond the nutritional data, this feature can also fill fields related to the product name, allergens, and ingredient statement. It can be especially helpful for products with lots of sub-ingredients as their ingredient statements can be quite lengthy.

Since this relies on AI, you should always double check the results to make sure it delivers what you’d expect. That said, we’re excited to roll this out and to continue to work on features that automate and simplify the process for you.
