Bulk Nutrition Label Downloads and API Label Downloads
We have two really cool new features we're excited to share about our nutrition label maker: 1) Bulk Nutrition Label Downloads, and 2) Nutrition Label Downloads through the API!
Doing the bulk downloads has come up a bit over time, but for some reason felt like it would be a brittle implementation. We finally sat down and thought how we could whip something up, and it turned out to be pretty elegant and not as overwhelming a project as anticipated initially. And now we've refined it quite a bit with our newly designed recipe selection, download options, and processing pipeline.
Bulk Download Improvements
We released this feature pretty early without a lot of the bells and whistles, but now you can do a lot more:
- Download both PDFs and PNGs
- Filter and select recipes by name, tag, date, archived, and subrecipe status
- Select your file format - single PDF file or a zip of PDFs or PNGs
- Have labels auto-cropped or select your page size
- And we parallelized the downloading process so it's 5+ times faster!
So with all that now you can filter and select a batch of up to 500 nutrition labels to download with one click, and also programmatically download your nutrition labels through the API.
For Subscribers Only
Both of these features (bulk downloads and API downloads) are only available to labeling plan subscribers. Initially we chose that because the features were a bit experimental and we were still refining them, and partly because they only make sense to customers with lots of labels (who are generally subscribers anyway). If you're not a subscriber and think you need it, let us know and we'll chat!
How to Download Multiple Labels in Batches
As mentioned above, labeling plan subscribers can do a bulk label download and also download nutrition labels via the API.
We linked to the ReciPal API documentation above, which explains how the API works and these specific endpoints.
For the bulk label download, subscribers will see the option to download all their labels on the Label page of any recipe, right next to the regular single PDF and image download buttons.
Click that button and you'll be taken to your recipe selector page where you can filter your recipes by name, date, tags, and archived/subrecipe status. Add to your recipe selection with the "+" and "-" icons (selections are saved as your update your filters, which is really cool), select your file format and page size/cropping settings and we'll start formatting and rendering each of your recipes' labels for your download.
Any Questions?
We're super excited for our larger accounts that can take advantage of this giant time saver downloading multiple labels at once and easily selecting those batches of downloads, and eager to roll out this new recipe selection design to the rest of ReciPal's pages!
