Downloading All Recipe Costs

Posted on June 11, 2015 by

Running a food business is hard. Especially when you have a lot of different products.

One of the things you want to understand is the cost, price, and margin of each of your products. Then you can determine where your true winners are and how best to grow your business and invest resources.

Viewing All Product Costs

We make it easy for you to price out each recipe, but it's nice to have an overall view of how each recipe stacks up. That didn't exist for a while. We let you download and see the costs for each recipe individually and all your ingredients across recipes, but not for all your recipes together.

It's not a big deal when you have just a few recipes, but can be tedious to have each one in a different spreadsheet or page once you have more than a handful. One of our customers eventually spoke up that it would be nice to be able to download everything together, and we politely obliged! The logic was mostly there already, it was just a matter of putting it together for all the recipes instead of just one.

Where to Find It

You can find this option on the costing page of any recipe. It's in the usual spot where you download data to a spreadsheet, under the title "Download All Recipe Costs to Spreadsheet". See the image below for a screenshot.

For the visually inclined, this is where you download all your recipe costs.

What You Get

What you'll get is the standard costing download that you see for a single recipe, only it will be in one spreadsheet listing it out for each of your recipes, with a separator in between:

  • Cost for each individual ingredient, per batch and package.
  • Cost breakdowns by food, packaging, labor, and overhead, per batch and package.
  • Total cost per batch and per package.
  • Per package prices to each channel, based on your entered margins.

So, what are you waiting for? Give it a shot if you have a slew of recipes. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
