As Packaged - As Prepared Dual Declaration Label Format

One of our favorite things to do at ReciPal is creating more nutrition label formats for our users. It makes their lives easier and that's our goal.

We always had the most common nutrition label formats like the standard vertical, tabular, and linear formats. Those will cover probably 95% of products. One that we were missing and planned to add for a while was the dual declaration format - the one where you have 2 columns for different serving sizes or "as prepared" and "as packaged" versions of the product.

Dual Declaration (As Packaged/As Prepared) Format Now Available

The dual declaration format is pretty common for a few types of products:

  • Cereals, so you can have the raw cereal as well as a column with milk added.
  • Baking mixes, so you can have the raw mix as well as a column for preparation with wet ingredients.
  • Products where you want to list 2 serving sizes (this is probably going to be mandatory for a lot of products with the impending FDA changes).

If your product needs the dual declaration, you probably know. If you don't, ask us!

Setting it Up

The dual declaration format is a label format just like any other in ReciPal. If you're on the label page, you'll select it from the dropdown menu of label formats as you can see in the image below.

You'll have to select a second recipe to use as your second column in the dual declaration label, which you can change as you can see in the image below. The default is for the columns to be labeled as "Mix" and "Baked", but you can edit this on the Edit page of each recipe. Note that for the "New" version of this label, the first column will default to your Suggested Serving Size.

1. Select the "As Packaged/As Prepared" Label Format 2. Change which recipe to use as the second column


As mentioned above, you can change the titles of the columns from the Edit Recipe page of each respective recipe. See the screenshot below for guidance.
